XXIII “Ricolmatura” of the bottles of Brunello di Montalcino Biondi Santi - Tenuta Greppo Riserva
Due to the passing of Mr. Franco Biondi Santi, it has been decided not to perform the "Topping off" of the bottles of Brunello di Montalcino Biondi Santi Riserva scheduled on June 1st 2013. Instead, it will be performed on June 2014.

Exceptional vintage. Spring was cold and wet. June, July and August were moderate hot, dry, with little rain falls at intervals. September cold and dry. The harvest started on September 18th and was cold and dry. Grapes were clean and mature with thick skins rich in colour. The must resulted rich in sugar, extract and acidity. We qualified both Brunello type ´Annata´ and ´Riserva´. Only grapes that come from the Estate vineyards are vinified.
Production area: Montalcino
Vineyards´ age: from 5 to 10 years
Soil composition: various origins, rich in stones. The best are the ones rich in marl
Vineyards´ exposure: south, south-east, east, north-east, north
Altitude: from 300 to 500 metres
Grapes: Sangiovese grosso 100%
Harvesting: early September
Vinification: in red, controlled temperature
Ageing: 1 year in Slavonian oak casks
Refining in bottle: at least four months
Annual production: 14.827
Organic Characteristics:
Colour: intense ruby red
Bouquet: intense with notes of vanilla
Taste: harmonic, well structured, savoury, with tannins and acidity in pefect equilibrium
Aging: 15 - 20 years
Serving temperature: 16ºC or 62ºF
